Privacy Policy
We are going to be straight with you. Privacy policies are usually boring. They are walls of text written by lawyers who seem to compete for how many times they can use the word "hereinafter." We are not doing that. We are going to tell you what we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe. Like adults. Like people who actually respect you.
Who We Are
We are the team behind the humidor guides, cigar reviews, and storage advice you have been reading. We run a website and possibly a shop dedicated to helping collectors protect their rare cigars. When we say "we," "us," or "our," we mean the folks running this operation. When we say "you," we mean you. The reader. The collector. The person who just wants to know if their data is safe.
What Information We Collect
Let us break this down into two camps. The stuff you give us on purpose, and the stuff that gets collected automatically.
Information You Give Us
This happens when you sign up for our newsletter, fill out a contact form, create an account, or buy something from us. It might include your name, email address, shipping address, billing information, and phone number. Basically, the details we need to send you humidor recommendations or ship you a product without it ending up at your neighbor's house.
If you email us a question about beetle prevention at two in the morning, we keep that email. Not because we are nosy. Because we want to answer you. And maybe because your late-night panic about humidity levels made us laugh.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our site, some things happen in the background. Your browser talks to our servers. That conversation includes your IP address, the type of device you are using, your browser version, the pages you visit, how long you linger on our cedar comparison guide, and where you came from before landing here.
We also use cookies. Not the delicious kind. The digital kind. These are small files stored on your device that help our site remember who you are. They keep you logged in. They remember what you put in your cart. They help us understand which articles about climate control are actually getting read.
How We Use Your Information
We use your data for a few very specific reasons. None of them are creepy.
First, we use it to run the site and deliver our content. If you subscribe to updates about rare cigar releases, we need your email to actually send them. If you order a humidor, we need your address to deliver it. This is not rocket science.
Second, we use it to improve what we do. We look at which articles get shared, which products get viewed, and where people get stuck during checkout. This helps us write better guides and build a smoother experience. We want you to find that perfect storage solution without wanting to throw your laptop across the room.
Third, we use it to talk to you. If you ask us a question, we reply. If there is an issue with your order, we reach out. If we launch something we think you will genuinely care about, we might send you a note. We do not spam. We hate spam. Spam is the mold of the internet.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies. We already said that. But let us get specific.
Some cookies are essential. They make the shopping cart work. They keep you signed in. Without them, the site would forget who you are every time you clicked a new page. That would be annoying.
Some cookies help us understand our audience. We use analytics tools to see how many people read our humidor guides, where they come from, and what devices they use. This data is aggregated. We do not know that John from Tampa spent twelve minutes reading about Spanish cedar. We just know that someone did.
You can block cookies in your browser settings. We will not stop you. But parts of the site might act a little weird if you do. Your call.
Third Parties and Who We Share With
We do not sell your personal information. Full stop. We are not in the business of trading email lists like baseball cards. Your data is yours.
That said, we do work with some trusted partners who help us keep the lights on. These include:
- Payment processors who handle your credit card details securely
- Shipping companies who need your address to deliver your humidor
- Email services that help us send newsletters
- Analytics platforms that show us how the site is performing
- Hosting providers that store our website data
These partners only get the information they need to do their jobs. They are contractually bound to protect it. And they are not allowed to use your data for their own marketing purposes. We checked.
How We Protect Your Data
We take security seriously. Maybe not as seriously as we take humidity levels, but close.
We use encryption to protect data in transit. That means when you enter your credit card number or password, it is scrambled so that anyone snooping in the middle sees gibberish. We use secure servers. We limit access to personal information to only the team members who actually need it. Our password policies are strict. Our coffee intake is high.
Is anything online one hundred percent secure? No. If someone tells you otherwise, they are lying. But we follow industry best practices, we stay updated on security standards, and we treat your data like we would want ours treated.
Your Rights and Choices
You are in control here. You have rights, and we respect them.
You can access the personal information we have about you. You can ask us to correct it if something is wrong. You can ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from our emails anytime by clicking the link at the bottom. You can disable cookies. You can close your account.
If you want to exercise any of these rights, just email us. We will not make you jump through hoops. We will not ask you to fax us a handwritten request. We will handle it like reasonable human beings.
Children's Privacy
Our site is about cigars. Cigars are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of eighteen. If you are a kid, go outside and play. Come back in twenty years. If you are a parent and think your child gave us information, let us know and we will delete it immediately.
Links to Other Sites
Sometimes we link to other websites. Maybe a manufacturer we trust. Maybe a retailer with a deal we want to share. Maybe a YouTube video of someone reviewing the same humidor we just wrote about. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. They have their own policies. Read them. Or do not. But do not blame us if they do something sketchy.
Changes to This Policy
We might update this policy from time to time. Maybe because the law changed. Maybe because we added a new feature. Maybe because we realized we could explain something better. If we make significant changes, we will post the updated version here and change the date at the bottom.
